Every girl has been through that frustrating process of not knowing how to start on using makeup products. That genuine feeling of wanting to look good and embrace beauty and trying new makeup products but when you've finally decided to really put on some cosmetics on your face, you realize you don't know where to start!

You probably started off by searching for makeup products online, comparing prices and results and trying to browse through millions of cosmetic description and well, that's probably how you ended up reading this.

Well, how about reading along and try out some of our tips and tricks on how to get started? After all, there's no harm trying~

Aside from your normal skincare routine, the first thing you'll need is a foundation and a concealer. One that makes up the base of your makeup and makes your skin look flawless and the latter to cover blemishes and skin discoloration or even to brighten up your under eye area. If you want lighter coverage then go for a tinted moisturizer as your foundation or a liquid foundation for more coverage. Simply use your fingers, or a flat synthetic foundation brush or even a sponge blender and apply it as evenly as you can. Similar to foundation, pick a concealer based on the level of coverage you need for you skin type and the medium you'd prefer, eg creams, sticks, or liquids.

Now, when you're applying foundation on your skin, you're also eliminating natural shadows and highlights on your skin. This is when bronzer and highlighter comes into the picture. Bronzer acts like your face structure's shadow while highlighter brightens your skin. You'll want to apply bronzer to areas of your face where you want to look darker or to make you face seems smaller. Use highlighter in areas that you want your skin to glow such as opalescent or even matte highlighters.

To add a little flush to your face (so that you don't look like a pale lady after applying foundation), blush comes into picture to add color to your face. Beginners generally use powder blushes for a more natural finish.

Next comes the eyeshadow with thousands of palletes to choose from. Usually for beginners a single shade will do by applying a sweep of a single shadow across your eyelid but if you want to create dimensions, try using base shade, highlighting shade and contour shade. Eyeliner enhances the shape and color of your eyes. Simple application can be used for beginners by using a pencil along their lower lash line to create definition and along the upper lash line to make eyelashes look fuller. Mascara is a great way to enhance the volume of your eyelashes. A mascara with a smaller application brush will give you more control and also avoids smudging your eyes.

Lip color comes with endless choice of colors. There’s lip balm, gloss, tints, creme sticks and stains. The difference is in the level of pigments or the amount of color that shows up upon applying. Start off with a less pigmented option and work your way up by building up bolder hues. Lip liner is on another level that is generally formulated to prevents the color from bleeding.

With that, you should be able to make up with the names and functions of each makeup products and feel more confident on trying different types of cosmetics to suit your taste.
